"Kolam"- traditional design drawn by a mother of Sunday school child of Sri Ponnambalawaneswarar Devasthanam. A "Kolam" competition was organsied by the Sunday school during Navarathri festival for the mothers of the Sunday school children.

Arrays of intricate floral, diagnol and divine patterns were on display.

"Kolam"

A colourful design called "Kolam" is made by saffron flour and wheat flour at the main entrance of Sri Ponnambalawaneswarar Temple in Kochchikade, Colombo 13 to welcome the devotees. This colourful "Kolam" was created by Pratheepan Sharma of Sri Ponnambalawaneswarar Temple.

A traditional figure-drawing, "kolam" skills are considered a mark of grace, dexterity, discipline and concentration.
