Thulasi or Indian Basil in the compound of Mangala Pilliayar temple in Pavalamalai, Ginigaththena. Its botanical name is Ocimum Sanctum. And it's also called "Holy Basil". This plant in considered holy and has many herbal values. Thulasi is invoked in prayers as the embodiment of purity.
